Outcomes of Participating in a CEO Peer Group

The effective leadership development coaching that CEO peer groups deliver can have a positive impact not just on an individual but on their entire business as well. It can improve a person’s personal and professional performance through fostering a clearer vision for the company. Improved confidence, improved communication and better quality decision-making skills follow too.

As members and the group chair, who is an executive coach, devise solutions to issues amongst their groups, members are able to stretch beyond their assumed constraints, feel more satisfied at work and often become more flexible in adapting to change. A member’s improved professional performance is reflected in better outcomes for their business as they receive leadership coaching from the group.

Research supports the promoted benefits of coaching, which are gained through CEO Peer groups. A UK study of 500 executives[1] found:

  • 99% agreed that coaching can produce concrete benefits for both individuals and their businesses
  • 96% agreed coaching is an effective way to promote ongoing learning and development
  • 93% agreed that coaching and mentoring are key mechanisms for transferring learning back into the workplace
  • 92% agreed coaching can have a positive impact on the bottom line

The leadership coaching members benefit from the one-on-one sessions with their group leader or chair, from listening to industry expert speakers, and from the combined experience of the other members of their group - all help to allow individuals to tap into their potential. It also helps them coordinate their career and personal life, and to cope better with change.

CEO groups help members to improve confidence in their decision-making skills. In turn, their companies benefit through improved CEO leadership skills, responsibility and accountability, and motivation. Staff working for CEOs with a clear vision for the business and with an outcome-based problem solving approach to issues, are more likely to be satisfied. In this sense, CEO Peer groups can also have the added on benefit of helping improve staff retention.
